I guessed it was the '96; also a killer vintage but not as good as the '97 or so I thought. I am going to drink another '97 soon. Most shocking, we had two '94s because Terry couldn't find his '87 and you'd think you could pick out the two wines that were identical except for storage differences. WRONG! Nobody guessed the two wines that were the same. You can see from the ranking and votes garnered that there was a serious difference in the two '94s. There were so many serious differences in these wines that if I didn't know they were all Montelena I would have guessed they were from different winemakers. There was nothing bad, but this was definitely an exercise in preferences. The Bordeaux ringer was a clear standout for everyone. Its French oak and very different style stood out like Yasser Arafat at a Hawaiian luau.
